As much as I have enjoyed Tapply's fiction I like his outdoor writing better. Being a grouse and woodcock hunter this book brought back a lot of great memories. Anyone who has hunted these birds any length of time will relate to Bill's stories immediately. I was told once long ago that grouse hunters were different than any other hunters in that they always tell you about the ones they missed! We all miss so many. But I found out from this book I wasn't as bad a grouse hunter as I thought I was! I found myself smiling a lot as I read along. This book is a must for any grouse and woodcock hunter or any shotgunner for that matter. Highly recommended!Product details

Great condition, no problems
Loved it. Makes you want to get out in the field and hunt.
One of the best books I have read in a long time.
Tapply's explanation of why he hunts accurately describes why many hunt. Connecting with the past through a common sport. Using Grandpa's gun on a day's hunt somehow links us to the past and makes it all the more special. Anyone who enjoys the memories made afield will enjoy remembering those Autumn days with Tapply and his Brittany Burt.

Bill's books are easy to read.
Another book that I will re-read every year as the hunting season nears or by the fire on a cold winters day.
We will all miss him.
I've enjoed Mr.Tapply's books from his lawyer mysteries to stories of days afield. You cannot go wrong giving these as gifts
I enjoy this author's writing on bird hunting as well as fly fishing. His tales are told in an honest straight forward manor, much like having a conversation with a hunting companion and friend. His father was a famous outdoor writer so Tapply grew up around famous outdoor authors. He recounts meeting these individuals as a youth who was tagging along with his father on hunting trips. Very enjoyable.
