Finding Hope in Savannah edition by Melissa Wardwell Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

“Finding Hope in Savannah” is a book with lots of potential. The story and characters were interesting and enjoyable. I liked the strong faith held by some of the characters and how they shared it with other characters frequently. I also thought that the process Liz went through as her faith was restored was quite natural and believable.

I will admit that I nearly gave up reading it after the first two or three chapters. I felt like I was listening to someone who never stopped for breath. Thankfully, the pace slowed down a bit and the narrative flowed a bit more naturally after that. I personally had a problem with Jake’s reasons for not finding Liz for thirteen years. Sure, his mom needed help but surely he could have taken a few days to return to Boston to find her. I think Liz let him off just a bit too easily. Other aspects of the story also troubled me but to detail them would fall into the spoiler realm.

I believe that “Finding Hope in Savannah” could become a much better book with some professional editing help. It’s a good story that could be a great one. I would love to see a bit more time spent on the suspense and a bit less romantic daydreaming. But that’s just my own preferences.

I voluntarily reviewed a digital copy of this book that was provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
"Finding Hope In Savannah" by Melissa Wardwell is a book that once I read the first page I was hooked! '

"Finding Hope In Savannah" by Melissa Wardwell is a mystery but it is also a Romance.

This story shows that God uses our mistakes and past sins to bring us a better tomorrow.

At one point in the book I was literally not waiting to finish it because I was afraid that I wasn't going to like what was going to be the result of a character's action. I wish I could tell you what happened and if I liked the result or not but now that would be telling and I can't because I want you to read this story for yourself.

If you have read and liked Melissa Wardwell's other books I know you will really like this one. Finding Hope In Savannah is my favorite of her books.

Yes, the book is fiction but it really spoke to me about fear and I am going to share something a quote from the book, " Fear is a tool that Satan uses to keep you from reaching your potential in Christ. How? By Keeping you from seeing the beauty in the life He has given you. If you are constantly thinking about all the bad in the world or in your life, you will never see the everyday miracles."

Jake and Liz meet 13 year ago and then lost touch untill danger brought then together, but they never forgot each other.

This book has mystery and love and humor and motorcycle rides. And shows how God works all things for our good.

I am giving "Finding Hope In Savannah" by Melissa Wardwell 5 stars.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
This was a fast moving sweet story with just a hint of suspense. I really liked Liz and Jake and appreciated how much relationship with God, reading the Bible, and prayer was included in this book. I also appreciated the fact that the author wrote a story about characters who had sinned in the past but were able to receive forgiveness from God. Often I feel like Christian Fiction prefers perfect characters to more realistic ones and if you feel the same way then I think you’ll love this book.
One think I would have liked a little more of in this book was insight into the son. I wish I could have gotten to know him a little better and that the author would have explored his teenage angst a little more. But the times I did get to know him I really liked him. He had great insight for a young man.

I really liked Jake a lot. I was very impressed with his dedication and commitment both to his job and his friends and family. But most of all I was thrilled to find a man that showed restraint but willingly admitted how hard it was. I love characters that are realistic.
I liked Liz too but I didn’t fall in love with her like I did Jake’s character. There were quite a few times I was annoyed with her and how she processed things. And I felt like a lot of her conflict both internal and external was resolved way too easily for the situations she was in. I wish there had been just a little more character development with her.

This was a super sweet story and I loved the twist toward the beginning that came through for a fun ending to the story. I can’t tell you what it was because it will ruin it for you but it was probably my favorite part in the beginning.
If you love books that end with a happily ever after I really think you’ll enjoy this one. It doesn’t get there easily but it wraps up nicely in the end.

CelebrateLit and the author provided me a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
